“Diamonds” is my first abstract expression using Acrylics on Gessoboard

Moving from traditional watercolour to the use of acrylics, enables work without restraint or dictation.

The freeness to explore the pictures structure with increased control and the ability to overlay colour, creates depth and balance, not possible with watercolour.

My inspiration for “Diamonds” was from watching a documentary on the issues of ‘Blood Diamonds’ from war-torn Central African states. I was trying to express the dark side of the Diamond trade with shadow and red colouring contrasted with the blue clarity and cut of diamonds.
